Expression of Interest to Join the WISA Viticulture Working Group
In response to our call for Expressions of Interest for a WISA Technical Working Group it has become apparent there is a need and desire to extend this opportunity and establish a second working group focussed on Viticulture.
WISA is now seeking up to 8 members to join a WISA Viticulture Working Group. This working group aims to provide an improved link between supplier and grape producer technical issues working collaboratively with the Wine Industry Technical advisory committee (WITAC) and other crucial industry bodies.
The objective of this group is for suppliers to facilitate and assist the Australian Wine Sector:
- To lead and address technical matters that impede suppliers to uplift and extend the capability and competitiveness of Australian grape and wine producers.
- To seek to address issues that impact the profitability and sustainability of Australia’s grape and wine producers.
- To support the WISA Technical Working Group to enable better market access for grape production aids approved by OIV and applied by the Australian Wine Sector under FSANZ
Current issues which are earmarked for the 2020 agenda include:
- Climate change and challenges to grape growing
- Access to water
- Biosecurity
The aim is for the group is to be Australian based and to meet four (4) times per year. This working group will work closely with the Australian Grape & Wine, the WISA Technical Working Group and WITAC for consideration of advocacy, production and technical supplier issues and actions.
