The ifm mini ferment monitoring solution is a stand-alone system for real time measurement of Baume / Brix and density on a single fermenter. Whilst the system is expandable, the solution is ideal as a simple “proof of concept”. The mini ferment solution utilises the latest in pressure transmitter technology, with robust ceramic diaphragms to avoid mechanical failure systemic with traditional metal film diaphragms. Additionally, IO-Link technology is deployed to digitize the sensor outputs resulting in significantly higher resolution than possible using standard analog 4-20mA signals. The high resolution signal is key to ensuring ferment measurements that accurately reflect the values measured in the laboratory. Automated ferment monitoring provides significant manpower savings when compared with traditional laboratory measurements. Additional benefits could include improved ferment control and better utilisation of fermenters.
