Seguin Moreau Australia

The Australian Government's Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry have esablished seasonal measures that are in protective industrial measures to the risk of the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) entering Australian borders. The BMSB is a biosecurity risk that the industry has identified and strict options are expected to targeted goods that are shipped between 1st September and 30th April (inclusive). Due to this biosecurity and trade protective compliance, cooperages and importers of oak products are required to apply Heat Treatment (HT) to all shipments entering Australian borders within the designated period which also corresponds to wineries requirements leading into and during grape vintage in Australia. HT is the accepted treatment as opposed to fumigation that oak importers rely on in achieving compliance whilst supplying barrels and oak. HT involves the container being heated to >56C or higher (at the coldest surface of the goods) for a minimum of 30 minutes. The IMPACT to oak barrels as an unsealed wood product can include quality impacts such as moisture loss, flexing, expansion/contraction and others that can alter the integrity of the barrel it promised performance. Seguin Moreau Australia has worked tirelessly and submitted in accordance to the Australian Biosecurity strict guidelines, evidence of assurances that such a treatment isn't necessary for their supply and importation of barrels that are manufactured from cooperages in France and received into Australia. Such an accreditation is a clear commitment to assured quality of the barrel. In essence the winery will receive their Seguin Moreau barrel in the condition that the cooperage intended! This accreditation gives customers great confidence that their investment is backed with consistent quality measures and formalized accreditation from the Australian Government. This outcome is aligned to our valued relationships with our shared pursuit for excellence in winemaking.
