Sidewood Estate
Set amongst a stunning mix of native eucalyptus and landscaped gardens, the Sidewood Restaurant is only 25 minutes from the Adelaide CBD. The luxury landmark has a vast, jet-black clad exterior and a 45-degree pitch gable roofline which stands in stark contrast to the warm, neutral materials of the interior. Giant Victorian ash trusses, local stone flooring, and warm caramel leather banquettes all lend a taste of comfort and luxury. The venue also features an eclectic collection of Australian art. Founded in 2004 by Owen and Cassandra Inglis, Sidewood Estate has grown to become one of the largest wine producers in the Adelaide Hills. Specialising in cool-climate wines, Sidewood embodies a winemaking ethos that's all about artistry and authenticity. In February 2020, amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sidewood opened their cellar door and restaurant in Hahndorf, a charming historical township just a short drive from Adelaide. There was a noticeable gap in the area with venues that were either high end and formal or casual and family friendly. Their goal was to create a destination that was inclusive, accessible and celebrated their premium wines in a sophisticated but relaxed environment. This venue has become the heart and soul of Sidewood, their home and a special place to share their stories and passion with the community. Through the pandemic and now cost of living crisis, there have been multiple influences affecting patron booking numbers, spend per head and cost of running the business. Throughout these challenged, Sidewood have since been forever adapting to meet consumer needs.
